A Unique New York Cinema Experience
Focus on French Cinema is a French film festival held annually in Spring – March/April – 30 minutes away from Manhattan at The Performing Arts Center, Purchase College, NY. Films are screened in French with English subtitles.
Aiming to provide an authentic view of contemporary French and francophone culture through cinema, the Festival screens 10-12 highly acclaimed recent features from France, Belgium, Quebec and Africa – flying in as special guests the international actors and directors of the works to share their passion.
Now in its 7th year, Focus on French Cinema has brought 77 films to over 20 thousand people in the greater New York area, including 18 US Premiers. Among the awards earned by our recent selections are:
- 10 Awards from the Cannes Film Festival (including 2 Palmes d’Or)
- 18 César Awards (the French Academy Awards)
- 4 awards from the Venice Film Festival
- 2 awards from the Montreal Film Festival
