Welcome!
The fourth annual festival FOCUS ON FRENCH CINEMA welcomed March 27-30, 2008 close to 4,000 spectators who came to see French and Francophone films in the Performing Arts Center at Purchase College, NY.
We want to express our gratitude to all who contributed to make this festival a great success! This includes our audience, our sponsors and partners, our guests and speakers, our suppliers and all the volunteers who gave many hours of their free time to help organize and manage the festival. Thanks to you, FOCUS ON FRENCH CINEMA is now a key event in our community.
A wide selection of 13 feature French and Francophone films was shown during the four day event, including 7 premières..
The success of this festival revolves around the featured guests who present and discuss their movie and interact with the audience during formal sessions and also more casually throughout the event : Jean-Marie Téno (director), Jocelyn Quivrin (actor), Franck Mancuso (director), Patrick Gimenez (producer), Alice Taglioni (actress) and Boris Van Gils (assistant director).
A full house crowded the Pepsico Theatre to see the Opening night film Ensemble, c’est tout (Hunting and Gathering), followed by the much anticipated Gala buffet dinner catered by D'artagnan, La Bonne Cuisine, Restaurant la Mangeoire and Meli-Melo and featuring the delicious products of our generous gala buffet contributors.
As always, we are thankful to our Sponsors and Partners who made this festival possible. The main sponsors are: TV5Monde, American Airlines, Altour, Adspace, JCDecaux, LVMH, Caylon, United Waters, the Raymond Debbane Family Foundation, the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Flora Family Foundation …
In the coming weeks, we will be posting on the website a photo gallery, a video, as well as various articles and testimonials. We hope you come back to the site to check this out.
If you attended the festival, we would gladly welcome your feedback.
Save the date for our fifth anniversary which will take place April 3-5, 2009.
The festival is organized by the Alliance Française of Greenwich, CT, French Feeling Films, and Purchase College NY, with the support of our Featured Partners.
The Focus on French Cinema Team.
